Your calendar tells the truth.

If you looked at my calendar, you'd see it colour coded and planned within an inch of its life. I even block travel time and preparation time before client appointments. It's the only way I can guarantee I won't overcommit myself.

We're optimistic creatures. Tony Robbins once said "We overestimate what we can achieve in a year. And underestimate what we can achieve in our lifetime."

Nowhere is that more true than in the weekly planning of many business owners!

I've met business owners who wing it completely. No calendar, no planning tools. They rely on the hard drive of their own brain to get them to the right place at the right time. It must be exhausting to try to remember everything.

Don't get me wrong, getting organised in my own calendar wasn't easy for me either. But it was essential. Without it, I'd be stretched beyond my capacity, spinning my wheels on things that don't matter.

Your calendar tells the truth about your business, whether you like what it says or not. So look at it now for the upcoming week. Does it reflect what you actually want your week to look like? Does it have show everything you have committed to?

Not documenting your commitments is the fastest path to burnout I know.
